Employment Type Full-Time
Minimum Experience Entry-level

Do you have the passion to join a group whose mission is to pioneer the discovery of a new class of medicines to treat diseases unaddressed by today’s therapies?  Does it excite you to be a part of a company with a focus on cancer and genetically-validated targets in other disease areas with unmet medical need?  If yes, you may be a great fit to join Arrakis on our path to bring powerful new therapies to millions of patients.

Your Impact at Arrakis

The mission
of Arrakis Therapeutics is to extend small molecule medicines into new realms of biology by discovering and developing compounds that selectively target RNA (“rSM”). By targeting distinct RNA structure/function relationships, Arrakis is generating drug candidates with novel mechanisms of action for molecular targets that are challenging to drug in disease areas with high unmet medical need.

As cell-based assay development and in-cell evaluation of high priority targets are critical to our mission, the Research Associate will make a major impact by assisting in the development and validation of new cell-based assays for high throughput screening.  The Research Associate will also provide tissue culture support to aid critical projects, leveraging a broad array of tissue culture techniques, including cutting-edge techniques such as CRISPR editing.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced start-up environment, leveraging a high degree of problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to make a large impact on our mission.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the development and validation of new cell-based assays.
  • Support vital tissue culture needs utilizing cutting-edge techniques.
  • Work collaboratively within the Target Biology and Translational Medicine team and matrix with the Assay team to deliver high-quality assays and results in a timely and efficient manner.

  • B.S. in Biology or related field with 1+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and validation of cell-based assays.
  • Expertise in tissue culture, including a demonstrated ability to: a) culture and maintain cell lines and b) design and execute well-controlled tissue culture experiments.
  • Experience with cell transfection techniques, lentiviral production and infection, and basic use of FACS (4-color) is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate methodologies and results with management and colleagues.
  • Proactive and efficient to enable high-quality results while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Exhibits passion and excitement over work. Has a can-do attitude without losing objectivity.
