Your Impact at Arrakis


The mission of Arrakis Therapeutics is to extend small molecule medicines into new realms of biology by discovering and developing compounds that selectively target RNA (“rSM”). By targeting distinct RNA structure/function relationships, Arrakis is generating drug candidates with novel mechanisms of action for molecular targets that are challenging to drug in disease areas with high unmet medical need.  

Reporting to the Head of HR, the HR Operations Manager will have an opportunity to impact our mission by bringing expertise in all facets of building and managing the HR function in this growing biotech company. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of how to set up or evolve operational aspects of an HR function during times of rapid growth, and be capable of organizing company-wide initiatives across the full employee life cycle, including benefits, compensation, performance, talent acquisition, talent development, onboarding, and more.  This role has the potential to take on more responsibility as the company grows.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced small biotech environment, leveraging a high degree of integrity, creativity and innovation. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all benefits programs and relationships with external partners and broker
  • Oversee employee related policies and processes, striking a balance between having enough but not too many, so the company remains nimble and efficient.
  • Coordinate HR related systems and technology, from performance to HRIS systems, making improvements where possible.
  • Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring that strong HR practices are in place for new employees to maximize productivity and engagement.
  • Manage onboarding of new employees to ensure a great experience and a smooth overall process; coordinate with other relevant functions on technology, space, etc.
  • Support the management team with the performance management process for employees (Bench planning, performance reviews, goal coaching, performance improvement plans, etc.).
  • Continuously demonstrate our company values of being resilient, fearless, and thriving as a team.
  • Support recruiting, as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field with 7+ years of HR operations experience in progressively more responsible roles, ideally in the biotech or pharmaceutical fields.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking ability and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously and autonomously 
  • Thrives in, and contributes to, a work environment where everyone’s opinions matter, discussions are richer, and outcomes are better as a result.
  • Embraces informality and a “flat” working structure where how we get things done matters as much as what we accomplish.
  • Ability to forge strong partnerships and work collaboratively with business leaders and employees while demonstrating a capacity to influence multiple levels of the organization
  • Solid understanding of current Massachusetts employment laws and their impact on people, programs and policies
  • Deep knowledge of various HR systems from payroll to benefits to HRIS and performance related systems, ideally exposure to Bamboo HR.
