The mission of Arrakis Therapeutics is to extend small molecule drug discovery into new realms of biology by discovering and developing compounds that selectively target RNA. By targeting specific RNA structure/function relationships, Arrakis will generate drug candidates with novel mechanisms of action for high-value molecular targets that are challenging to address via traditional approaches in therapeutic indications with high unmet medical need. 


Generating high-quality RNA constructs for screening, biophysical/biochemical assays, and structural biology efforts is core to the mission at Arrakis. The candidate will support the effort to establish a world-class in vitro transcription (IVT) platform to produce natively folded RNA at scale. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced start-up environment, leveraging a high degree of integrity, intelligence and innovation to make a large impact on our mission. 


Job Responsibilities:


  • Support the in vitro transcription platform to generate RNA constructs at scale for various downstream applications.
  • Purify RNA constructs by size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and perform quality control using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, capillary electrophoresis (e.g., Fragment Analyzer), SEC, chemical probing (e.g., SHAPE), and Illumina sequencing.
  • Develop and deploy 5′- and 3′- end labeling methodologies to modify RNA constructs generated through the IVT platform.
  • Work with automated liquid handlers for the high throughput production of RNA constructs.
  • Work effectively with a cross-functional biology, informatics, assay development, and chemistry team to deliver high-quality results on aforementioned objectives in an efficient manner.




  • B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with some industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with RNA and performing in vitro transcription reactions strongly preferred.
  • Experience with size exclusion chromatography preferred.
  • Experience with next-generation sequence methods preferred, but not required.
  • Proactive and efficient to enable high-quality results while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Exhibits passion and excitement over work. Has a can-do attitude without losing objectivity.
  • Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions and copes effectively with complexity and change.
