Do you have the passion to join a group whose mission is to pioneer the discovery of a new class of medicines to treat diseases unaddressed by today’s medicines?  Does it excite you to be a part of a company with a focus on cancer and genetically-validated targets in other disease areas with unmet medical need?  If yes, you may be a great fit to join Arrakis on our path to bring powerful new therapies to millions of patients.

Your Impact at Arrakis

The mission of Arrakis Therapeutics is to extend small molecule medicines into new realms of biology by discovering and developing compounds that selectively target RNA (“rSM”). By targeting distinct RNA structure/function relationships, Arrakis is generating drug candidates with novel mechanisms of action for molecular targets that are challenging to drug in disease areas with high unmet medical need.

We are seeking a Research Associate /Senior Research Associate in the RNA Biology team to support the identification of therapeutic intervention points in RNA biology and the discovery and mechanistic understanding of novel small molecule modulators of RNA targets. This position requires strong experience in mammalian cell biology methodologies and/or nucleic acid molecular biology methodologies. This is an opportunity to substantively contribute to a vital function of our fast-growing company. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced start-up environment, leveraging a high degree of integrity, intelligence, and innovation to make a large impact on our mission.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the identification of broad-based and target-specific therapeutic intervention points in RNA biology, proof-of-concept validation of therapeutic MOAs, and mechanistic understanding of small molecule therapeutic candidates
  • Work with RNA biology team scientists to design, execute, and interpret low- and medium-throughput mammalian cell-based assays with cell biology/molecular biology readouts
  • Work with RNA biology team scientists to design, execute, and interpret molecular biology assays
  • Work effectively in a cross-functional capacity with the RNA biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology, and chemistry teams to deliver high-quality results in an efficient manner
  • Document, communicate, and present experimental outcomes effectively across the organization

  • Proficiency in tissue culture methodologies (e.g. culture and maintain cell lines) or in nucleic acid molecular biology methodologies (e.g. qPCR, plasmid construct design, NGS) required, with experience in both methodologies strongly preferred
  • Experience with cell-based assays, cell transfection/infection techniques, reporter assay design/execution, and/or NGS methodologies preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate methodologies and results with colleagues
  • Proactive and efficient to enable high-quality results while fostering a positive work environment
